Waterfront

The omnipresence of water gives Venice its characteristic and captivating luminescences, best seen when the low morning sun reflects a rich, warm light off the lagoon.

The restless lagoon also creates a symphony of sounds - the creak of the mooring posts and jet ties, the rhythmic slap of wavelets around the pontoons and the booms from the rows of tethered gondolas, jostling each other with every passing wake, as if elbowing for space from their neighbours.
